Glenn Gainor Leaves Amazon Original Movies to Launch Hollywood Ventures Group
Amazon Original Movies’ Glenn Gainor Launches Hollywood Ventures Group
In a significant shift within the entertainment landscape, Glenn Gainor, the head of physical production for Amazon Original Movies, is set to depart from his role to co-found Hollywood Ventures Group, a new production company and consulting firm. Joining him in this venture is Sandy Climan, head of Entertainment Media Ventures and a veteran of Creative Artists Agency (CAA).
Hollywood Ventures Group aims to revolutionize film and television production and distribution with its innovative “Hollywood in a Box” model, designed to cater to global partners in both emerging and established markets. According to the company’s website, their mission is to create the first truly global studio, connecting top-tier talent, strategic capital, and cutting-edge technology to serve creators and companies across film, television, and digital platforms.
The new company will be headquartered at the iconic Television City studio complex in Los Angeles’ Fairfax District, a hub for creativity and innovation. Gainor will take on the role of CEO, leading a team that includes Nelly Kim and Gabriel Jenkins from EMV, as well as Gainor’s executive assistant, Tejkiran Kaur.
Gainor’s impressive track record includes overseeing major Amazon MGM productions such as Eddie Murphy’s “Candy Cane Lane,” Dwayne Johnson’s “Red One,” and Aaron Sorkin’s “Being the Ricardos.” His experience extends beyond Amazon; he spent 14 years at Sony Motion Picture Group’s Screen Gems, contributing to hits like “Think Like a Man” and “Friends with Benefits.”
Notably, Gainor also spearheaded Sony’s Innovation Studios, where he introduced advanced technologies to filmmakers, enabling them to create and reuse digital assets for future productions. His leadership in acquiring Nurulize, a startup specializing in real-time collaborative editing, further showcases his commitment to pushing the boundaries of film production.
As Gainor embarks on this new journey, the entertainment industry will be watching closely to see how Hollywood Ventures Group shapes the future of film and television production on a global scale.
A representative for Amazon has yet to comment on Gainor’s departure.
