Latest News Delhi: All flights originally scheduled to depart from T1 now relocated to T2 and T3; no cancellations expected on Sunday

Flight Operations at Delhi Airport Terminal 1 Moved to Terminals 2 and 3 Following Canopy Collapse

The recent collapse of the canopy at Terminal 1 (T1) of the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi has caused a major disruption in flight operations. SpiceJet and IndiGo, the two flight operators based at T1, have shifted all their flight operations to terminals 2 and 3 following the incident.

The collapse, which occurred due to heavy rainfall, resulted in one fatality and eight injuries, prompting the closure of T1. Both airlines have informed passengers about the changes through SMS and email notifications. Despite the shift in terminals and changes in flight timings, no flights were cancelled on Sunday.

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) is currently evaluating the situation and working with stakeholders to ensure passenger safety and convenience. The timeline for resuming operations at T1 is still uncertain as investigations into the collapse are ongoing.

SpiceJet and IndiGo have made necessary arrangements to accommodate the increased footfall at terminals 2 and 3. Passengers are advised to check their flight status and allow for sufficient travel time due to the changes in terminal locations.

The incident has highlighted the need for infrastructure improvements at the airport to prevent such occurrences in the future. As the situation continues to evolve, passengers are urged to stay informed and follow updates from the airlines and airport authorities.
