Netmore and Detectronic Join Forces for Groundbreaking Wastewater Management Initiative in Yorkshire
In a significant move towards enhancing environmental sustainability, Netmore Group, a leading Massive IoT network operator, has announced a strategic partnership with Detectronic, a UK-based environmental engineering firm. This collaboration aims to revolutionize wastewater management across Yorkshire Water’s extensive network, marking a pivotal step in the fight against flooding and pollution.
As part of this ambitious initiative, Detectronic is set to deploy over 90,000 sewer monitors throughout Yorkshire Water’s wastewater system. This deployment will unfold over the next five years and includes the installation of 65,000 Pressure Alarm (PAL) sensors and 27,000 LIDoTT Alarms. Once completed, this will establish one of the most comprehensive sewer monitoring networks globally.
The partnership will leverage the LoRaWAN network being implemented by Netmore, which is also integral to Yorkshire Water’s ongoing smart meter exchange project. This project aims to enhance regional network coverage, ensuring that Yorkshire Water meets its service improvement targets for its 1.3 million smart meters.

The innovative PAL sensor, Detectronic’s first LoRaWAN-enabled product, is designed for domestic sewer alarms, providing smart connectivity for residential gullies and shallow chambers. This battery-operated device ensures long-range communication, delivering precise data that supports Yorkshire Water’s environmental and operational objectives.
Gavin Wagstaff, Product & Data Director at Detectronic, emphasized the importance of this partnership, saying, “We’re proud to be selected as a framework partner for Yorkshire Water and to collaborate with Netmore in delivering a robust, scalable, and highly accurate network monitoring infrastructure.”
Rob Button, Service Delivery Director at Detectronic, added that their role extends beyond installation, as they will also oversee the planned maintenance of all sensors throughout the five-year framework. This initiative will create new job opportunities as Detectronic expands its operations with a new base in Yorkshire.
