Moss Named Deputy Chief
In a move that underscores his dedication and expertise, Lake Charles Police Chief Shawn Caldwell has promoted veteran officer Sgt. Larry Moss to the rank of deputy chief. With an impressive 29-year career in law enforcement—22 of which have been spent with the Lake Charles Police Department—Moss will now oversee the department’s operations division.
Born and raised in Sulphur, Moss graduated from Sulphur High School in 1986 before attending McNeese State University. His journey took him to the U.S. Navy in 1988, where he served as a special weapons technician aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln during Desert Storm. After completing his military service in 1994, Moss began his law enforcement career in Richmond, Virginia, quickly rising through the ranks.
Returning to Lake Charles in 2003 to be closer to family, Moss joined the local police department as a patrol officer. His commitment to public safety led him to the training division in 2008, where he became an instructor and departmental recruiter. In 2017, he took on the role of SWAT commander, showcasing his leadership and tactical skills.
Moss has been a key figure in training initiatives since 2006, instructing in various disciplines, including defensive tactics and active shooter response. His promotion to deputy chief marks a new chapter in his career, promising continued excellence in community safety.
Burton Named Club Manager
The Lake Charles Racquet Club is excited to announce the appointment of AunJelle LaFleur Burton as its new general manager. With over 25 years of experience in program development, facility management, and community engagement, Burton brings a wealth of knowledge to this pivotal role.
Holding a Bachelor of Science in exercise science from McNeese State University, Burton is also a Certified Park and Recreation Professional and a Certified Pool Operator. As general manager, she will oversee daily operations, ensuring that member services, staff development, financial planning, and event programming meet the club’s high standards.
Burton’s leadership will be instrumental in driving marketing efforts, membership growth, and community engagement, positioning the Racquet Club as a cornerstone of local recreation.
Four to Serve on LDAA Board
In a significant development for the legal community, four area leaders have been appointed to serve a one-year term on the Louisiana District Attorneys Association (LDAA) Board of Directors. The new board members include Calcasieu Parish District Attorney Stephen Dwight, Assistant District Attorney Jacob Johnson, Jeff Davis Parish District Attorney Lauren Heinen, and Beauregard Parish District Attorney James Lestage.
