Hair Care for Everyone: Empowering Confidence Through Community Support
Hair Care for Everyone: A New Initiative in Atlanta
Atlanta, GA – In a heartwarming effort to uplift the community, a new salon in the Atlanta area is redefining hair care as a basic necessity rather than a luxury. The Higher Salon, founded by Mallorye Crowell, is dedicated to providing free hair care services to women and girls in need, ensuring that everyone can put their best hair forward, regardless of their circumstances.
Crowell’s inspiration for this initiative stemmed from the Back-to-School Box Braids Program, a summer initiative launched in 2024 that offered free braiding services to foster children preparing for the school year. Recognizing the profound impact that hair care can have on self-esteem and confidence, Crowell established The Higher Salon as part of her larger organization, The Higher Foundation. This foundation also provides essential resources to college students, allowing them to focus on their academics without the burden of basic necessities.
“The Higher Salon aims to serve about 20 individuals each month,” Crowell shared. “However, I hope to expand this number as more stylists volunteer their time and skills.”
Crowell firmly believes that hair care is intrinsically linked to personal confidence and the ability to thrive in life. “It’s tied to your confidence. It’s tied to your ability to thrive,” she emphasized in a recent interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
As the salon gears up for its official opening, the community is buzzing with excitement. Local stylists are encouraged to join the cause, contributing their talents to help those who may not otherwise have access to professional hair care.
The Higher Salon is not just a place for hair transformations; it’s a beacon of hope and empowerment for many in the Atlanta area. With its mission to provide dignity and self-assurance through hair care, the salon is set to make a significant impact, one hairstyle at a time.
