Emirates Unveils Ambitious Retrofit Program for A380 and Boeing 777 Fleets

Dubai, UAE – Emirates Airline is set to revolutionize the in-flight experience for its passengers as it embarks on the next phase of its extensive retrofit program. Beginning in August 2026, the airline will upgrade 60 A380s and 51 Boeing 777s with cutting-edge cabin innovations, including a redesigned in-flight entertainment system and enhanced Wi-Fi connectivity powered by Starlink.

The initiative, spearheaded by Emirates Engineering in collaboration with industry giants such as Airbus, Safran, Recaro, Panasonic, and UUDS, aims to introduce state-of-the-art seating designs and a new onboard lounge for the A380 fleet. The upgraded aircraft will feature Panasonic’s Astrova inflight entertainment system, ensuring a consistent and elevated passenger experience across the next 111 aircraft slated for retrofit.

Luxury Redefined in Business Class

Passengers traveling in Business Class on both the A380 and Boeing 777 will enjoy a significant upgrade, featuring the luxurious leather S Lounge seats by Safran, already a highlight of the airline’s A350 fleet. Enhancements include 4K entertainment options, improved storage solutions, minibar amenities, and multiple charging ports, including USB-C and wireless options, ensuring that travelers remain connected and entertained throughout their journey.

Introducing Premium Economy

Emirates’ latest cabin class, Premium Economy, will also see a transformation with Recaro’s innovative seating featuring a mechanical recline system. These spacious leather seats will provide generous comfort, complete with integrated leg and footrests, adjustable headrests, and a 13.3-inch entertainment screen, making long-haul flights a more enjoyable experience.

Economy Class Gets a Makeover

Economy Class passengers will benefit from the introduction of new, lightweight Safran Z400 seats, meticulously designed for long-haul operations. Each seat will feature an adjustable eight-way headrest, providing unparalleled neck and head support, ensuring comfort for every traveler.

Commitment to Excellence

Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, emphasized the airline’s commitment to elevating standards across its fleet. “Emirates’ retrofit program is about continuously elevating standards across our entire fleet. Our customers expect an excellent experience every time they fly Emirates, and this investment ensures we deliver on that promise in the years to come,” he stated.

To date, 76 aircraft have already undergone refurbishment, with each A380 requiring approximately 22 days and each Boeing 777 taking 18 days to retrofit. The program maintains a steady pace, with two freshly refurbished aircraft emerging each month, ready to enhance the travel experience on routes worldwide.

As Emirates continues to innovate and modernize its fleet, passengers can look forward to a new era of comfort, connectivity, and entertainment in the skies.
