Do you know someone who is dedicated to making a positive impact on the environment? If so, now is the time to nominate them for the Cox Conserves Heroes program. Nominations are closing today for the 2024 program, which gives sustainability superstars the chance to win up to $30,000 for the environmental nonprofit of their choice.
Cox Conserves Heroes recognizes volunteers and nonprofits that are actively working towards environmental sustainability and inspiring others to do the same. Nominees must be making a positive impact in areas such as conservation, volunteerism, and inspiration to engage in environmental sustainability.
To nominate a Cox Conserves Hero, visit the Cox Conserves Heroes 2024 website and fill out a brief form about your nominee. Three finalists will be selected for each category: Adult Hero, Youth Hero, and Nonprofit Hero. The public will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite finalist between October 7-13.
The winners will be announced in the fall, with each first-place winner receiving $30,000 to donate to the environmental nonprofit of their choice. Second and third-place finalists will also receive grants to donate to environmental nonprofits. In total, $150,000 will be awarded to six individuals and three nonprofit organizations.
The winner of the nonprofit category will receive The Jim Kennedy Conservation Award, named after the chairman emeritus of Cox Enterprises and chairman of the James M. Cox Foundation, who started the Cox Conserves sustainability program in 2007.
Since 2008, Cox Conserves Heroes has honored over 200 volunteers across the nation, making a significant impact on sustainability and environmental protection. The James M. Cox Foundation has awarded over $1.4 million to environmental and conservation causes.
