Sky News has made significant strides in the ranking of the biggest news websites in the UK, moving from sixth to third place in Press Gazette’s monthly ranking. The news outlet reported a 10% month-on-month growth and a 22% year-on-year growth, reaching a monthly audience of 22.7 million people.
This growth has propelled Sky News to be behind only the BBC and The Sun in terms of audience size. The BBC remains at the top with a monthly audience of 40.3 million, followed by The Sun with 23.7 million. Sky News now sits comfortably in third place, ahead of Mail Online and the Mirror.
The ranking also highlighted the overall growth in the news industry, with 37 of the top 50 websites experiencing month-on-month growth and 34 seeing year-on-year growth. Sky News and The Guardian were the top performers in terms of month-on-month growth, both seeing a 10% increase.
