Trump criticizes Harris and Biden on third anniversary of Afghanistan pullout

Former President Trump Ties Vice President Harris to Afghanistan War Withdrawal on Anniversary of Attack

Former President Donald Trump made headlines on Monday as he tied Vice President Kamala Harris to the chaotic Afghanistan War withdrawal on the third anniversary of a deadly suicide bombing that claimed the lives of 13 U.S. service members. Trump, who laid wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery in honor of the fallen soldiers, called the attack a “humiliation” and blamed Harris and President Joe Biden for the collapse of American credibility.

Speaking at the National Guard Association of the United States conference in Detroit, Trump criticized the handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal, stating that while leaving Afghanistan was the right decision, the execution was poor. He specifically targeted Harris for her role in foreign policy decisions and called for her resignation along with other officials involved in the Afghanistan crisis.

In response, Harris expressed her condolences for the fallen service members and emphasized the Biden administration’s commitment to countering terrorist threats without deploying troops into combat zones. President Biden also paid tribute to the 13 Americans who lost their lives, calling them “patriots in the highest sense.”

The families of the fallen service members have been seeking answers about the circumstances of their loved ones’ deaths, with some expressing frustration with the administration’s handling of the situation. Congress announced plans to posthumously honor the 13 service members with the Congressional Gold Medal next month.

The controversy surrounding the Afghanistan withdrawal continues to be a point of contention, with both the Trump and Biden administrations facing scrutiny for their roles in the events leading up to the Taliban takeover. The debate over accountability and responsibility in the aftermath of the Afghanistan crisis remains a key issue in the political landscape.
