Ahmedabad, India – Vadilal Industries, a prominent name in the ice cream and food sector, has announced the appointment of Himanshu Kanwar as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective September 29, 2025. This pivotal decision marks a significant milestone for the company, as Kanwar becomes the first non-family CEO to lead Vadilal’s operations in India.

With over 16 years of leadership experience, Kanwar brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. His impressive career includes key positions at Hindustan Unilever Limited and xto10x, where he honed his skills in innovation, digital strategy, consumer understanding, and go-to-market execution. An alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta and Delhi College of Engineering, Kanwar is well-equipped to steer Vadilal into its next chapter.

During his tenure at Unilever, Kanwar made significant contributions across various product categories, including ice creams, tea, and hair care. Notably, as General Manager for Unilever’s ice cream business in India, he successfully managed the profit and loss (P&L) while achieving high double-digit growth and enhancing profitability. His strategic vision was instrumental in the acquisition and integration of Adityaa Milk Ice Cream, marking Unilever’s first food and beverage acquisition in over two decades.

In his most recent role at xto10x, Kanwar collaborated with growth-stage start-ups across diverse sectors such as beauty and personal care, edtech, fintech, OTT, and apparel. His efforts in developing growth roadmaps and marketing strategies have helped these companies scale effectively.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Kanwar stated, “I feel privileged to lead Vadilal through this transition. I am committed to building on the Gandhi family’s legacy of making ice cream a beloved brand for millions of consumers in India.”
