Young Artisan: Ethan Logan Crafts Unique Hardwood Designs with Dad

Young Artisan and His Dad Craft Unique Wooden Creations in Kensington

KENSINGTON — What did Ethan Logan do during his summer vacation? The 15-year-old United Local High School student has a remarkable answer: he spent his summer honing his woodworking skills alongside his father, Scott Logan, as they crafted custom hardwood decor and furnishings under their business, E&S Hardwood Designs.

Ethan and Scott have teamed up to create stunning pieces ranging from cutting boards and charcuterie boards to custom pens and benches. Their workshop is a treasure trove of creativity, featuring up to 75 different types of wood, allowing clients to choose materials that suit their personal style.

Scott, who has been in the woodworking business for over a decade, was inspired to return to his craft after Ethan expressed interest in woodworking. “It’s been a great bonding experience for us,” Scott said. “Ethan’s enthusiasm reignited my passion for this work.”

Ethan, who studies woodworking at school, is also set to join the new welding program this fall. “I love creating things with my hands,” he shared. “It’s satisfying to see a project come to life.”

One standout piece crafted by the duo is a custom pen made for a bourbon enthusiast. The client requested that some char from the inside of the bourbon barrel be preserved in the pen, which was delivered with a certificate of authenticity. “It’s those personal touches that make our work special,” Ethan explained.

In addition to their pre-made inventory, E&S Hardwood Designs offers custom orders, allowing customers to bring their unique visions to life. Whether it’s a gift for a loved one or a statement piece for a home, the Logans are dedicated to meeting their clients’ needs.

For those interested in exploring their creations, E&S Hardwood Designs showcases their work on their Facebook page @EShardwooddesign. Customers can also reach out via phone at 330-881-0007 for inquiries.

As summer winds down, Ethan Logan not only returns to school with a wealth of experience but also a deeper appreciation for craftsmanship and entrepreneurship, proving that summer vacations can be both productive and fulfilling.
