Study Reveals Affordable Hair Care Expenses in Montana and North Dakota

Affordable Grooming: Montanans and North Dakotans Spend Less on Haircuts Compared to Other States

Montanans and North Dakotans Enjoy Affordable Haircuts Amid Rising Costs Nationwide

When it comes to personal grooming, residents of Montana and North Dakota can breathe a sigh of relief. A recent study by WalletHub reveals that both states rank among the most affordable in the nation for hair care, especially when household income is taken into account.

The analysis compared the average costs of men’s haircuts and women’s salon visits across the country, juxtaposing these prices with each state’s median household income. The findings are striking: while the cost of haircuts has surged by approximately 75% nationwide over the past two decades, geographical location plays a crucial role in how much these grooming expenses impact residents’ wallets.

Montana finds itself positioned at 32nd overall, with the combined cost of a haircut for both men and women accounting for about 1.13% of the median monthly household income. This places the state close to the national average, yet significantly lower than states like Arkansas, where similar services consume 1.64% of income.

Neighboring North Dakota fares even better, ranking 41st in the nation. Residents there spend around 1.07% of their monthly income on haircuts, making it one of the most budget-friendly states for grooming in the country.

The study highlights how the rising costs of services can affect families differently based on their location. In states like North Dakota, where incomes are relatively high compared to grooming prices, the financial burden is less pronounced.

For Montanans and North Dakotans, these findings provide a silver lining: while hair care costs have increased over the years, maintaining a polished appearance remains less of a financial strain compared to many other states. As residents settle into their barber’s chairs, they can take comfort in knowing that their grooming expenses won’t break the bank.
