Haircare Revolution: How Hair Products Became Essential for Beauty Across All Genders

The Evolution of Haircare: A Gender-Neutral Revolution in Beauty Routines

Haircare Takes Center Stage in Italy: A Gender-Neutral Revolution

Italy—Once a land where shampoo and conditioner reigned supreme, the beauty landscape has dramatically transformed. Haircare has evolved into a national obsession, with serums, masks, oils, and salon treatments now dominating online shopping carts and wish lists. The most striking trend? It’s not just women pursuing the perfect mane; men are increasingly investing time and money into their haircare routines.

Hair Routines Have No Gender

Recent data from Idealo, an international price comparison platform, reveals a staggering 200% increase in online searches for haircare products over the past year. This surge is not merely a female-driven phenomenon; men are also stepping up their game, particularly in styling, with growth rates soaring above 200%. While women still lead the charge with a 149% increase, the message is clear: beauty routines are shedding traditional gender norms.

“Online beauty is no longer a niche phenomenon but a solid reality,” says Antonio Pilello, Head of Communications at Idealo Italy. “The growth in searches for haircare and men’s products shows how beauty has become increasingly inclusive and universal.” Strengthening shampoos, shine serums, leave-in conditioners, and hydrating masks are now viewed as essential self-care items rather than gendered labels.

The Web is Here to Stay

Gone are the days of wandering through aisles filled with beauty products, often frustrated by the lack of testers. Today, the real beauty hall exists online—a digital marketplace where consumers can compare prices, read reviews, and hunt for the best deals. According to Idealo, shopping online not only offers convenience but also enables consumers to save an average of 16.5% on beauty products.

Among the most searched categories are perfumes, makeup, skincare, and gift sets, reflecting a shift in consumer behavior. The online beauty landscape is thriving, and it’s clear that Italians are embracing this new era of haircare with open arms.

As the lines between gendered beauty products continue to blur, one thing remains certain: haircare is no longer just a routine; it’s a movement that celebrates individuality and self-expression for everyone. Whether you’re a man or a woman, the quest for healthy, beautiful hair has become a shared journey, and the digital world is leading the way.
