Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event 2025: A Hub for Audiovisual Professionals and Emerging Talent

Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event Kicks Off at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival

Tallinn, Estonia – The 24th edition of the Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event, a cornerstone of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF), is set to commence this Friday, bringing together film professionals and emerging talents for an immersive eight-day experience. The event, hailed as “Northern Europe’s busiest business platform for audiovisual professionals,” promises to showcase a record number of projects this year, reflecting the growing vibrancy of the Baltic film scene.

Under the leadership of Marge Liiske, head of the Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event, the program features a diverse array of offerings, including the Baltic Event Co-Production Market with 15 titles, the Script Pool showcasing five selected scripts, and the European Genre Forum showcase. Notably, the TV Beats Co-Financing Market will spotlight eight selected series projects, including six titles developed through the Series Bridges Baltic workshops.

The event will also host the TV Beats Forum on November 17 and 18, uniting key international players in TV drama from the Baltics, Nordics, and Central and Eastern Europe. This forum aims to explore current trends, financing challenges, and success stories in the rapidly evolving series landscape. Additionally, the Just Film Industry Days, running from November 19 to 21, will focus on children’s and youth content, featuring pitching sessions and panels.

This year’s event will highlight Catalonia and Austria through dedicated programs, including a masterclass by acclaimed director Jessica Hausner. Liiske emphasizes the importance of training and promoting Baltic film and TV creatives, fostering connections with industry professionals worldwide.

In an exclusive interview with THR, Liiske discussed the event’s evolution and future plans, noting the need for constant innovation in response to industry changes. “Last year, we added new elements, including children and youth films at the co-production market,” she explained. “With the industry changing, you can never say you are complete.”

Looking ahead to the 2025 edition, Liiske revealed exciting new initiatives, including the first-ever workshop, Serial Bridges – Baltics, aimed at writer/producer duos from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Additionally, the “Coming Soon From the Baltics” segment will showcase three series projects in production or post-production, seeking distribution.

Attendance for this year’s event is robust, with around 750 registered attendees from approximately 50 countries, reflecting the growing appeal of the Baltic region in the film and TV sectors. Liiske noted that the focus remains on ensuring meaningful interactions among participants, with a commitment to sustainability in crowd management.

The panels and sessions will address key industry issues, with a particular focus on financing challenges and the integration of technology, including discussions on artificial intelligence. “We want practical sessions, not empty talk,” Liiske stated, highlighting the importance of adapting to technological advancements.

In a show of solidarity, the event will feature five projects from Ukraine, reinforcing the commitment to support filmmakers in challenging circumstances. Notable Hollywood figures, including costume designer Debra McGuire and hairstylist Nina Paskowitz, will share their insights and experiences, further enriching the program.

As the Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event gears up for another exciting edition, Liiske and her team remain dedicated to fostering long-term relationships and supporting the growth of the Baltic film industry. With past projects making waves at prestigious film festivals, the future looks bright for the region’s creative talents.
