Green Bay Packers Finalize 53-Man Roster for 2024 Season Opener in Brazil

The Green Bay Packers have finalized their 53-man roster ahead of their 2024 season opener in Brazil on Sept. 6. General manager Brian Gutekunst made the tough decisions after a month of training camp practices and three preseason games.

The roster deadline was on Tuesday at 3 p.m., and several players were cut from the team. However, many of these players could find their way back to Green Bay as members of the practice squad. Gutekunst can re-sign 16 players to the practice squad starting at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

Some notable players who were placed on injured reserve include running back AJ Dillon, tight end Tyler Davis, and defensive lineman Jonathan Ford. The team had to make tough decisions on who to keep and who to let go as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Among the cuts were players like cornerback Kalen King, wide receiver Julian Hicks, and defensive lineman Zach Morton. These players had shown promise during the preseason, but ultimately did not make the final roster.

The Packers also made some key acquisitions, including trading for quarterback Sean Clifford from the Tennessee Titans. Clifford will provide depth behind starter Jordan Love and will compete for the backup role.

With the roster set, the Packers are gearing up for their season opener in Brazil against the Philadelphia Eagles. The team will look to build on their success from last season and make a strong push for the playoffs.
