Oribe’s 2025 Holiday Collaboration: Weaving Artistry and Sustainability with Kustaa Saksi
Oribe Unveils 2025 Holiday Collection in Collaboration with Finnish Artist Kustaa Saksi
Craftsmanship Meets Creativity in Limited-Edition Gift Sets
In a celebration of artistry and sustainability, Oribe has launched its highly anticipated 2025 Holiday Collection, featuring a stunning collaboration with Finnish multidisciplinary artist Kustaa Saksi. This annual tradition, which began in 2018, aims to transform functional packaging into artistic expressions, showcasing the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship and storytelling.
Jennifer Smith, Vice President of Product Creation at Oribe, expressed the brand’s vision: “Our holiday collaboration originated from a desire to bring surprise and delight to our consumers. This year, we were drawn to Kustaa’s shared connection with beauty, nature, and the threads that connect us all.”
Saksi, known for his graphic storytelling through patterns and textile art, has designed four limited-edition gift sets named “Golden Threads.” Drawing inspiration from Oribe’s bestselling Gold Lust Collection and the iconic Goddess emblem, Saksi’s work reflects themes from Norse mythology, particularly the golden hair of the goddess Sif—a symbol of beauty and nature.
“The hair is a symbol of everything the earth provides to us,” Saksi explained. “It embodies a mix of beauty, change, and nature that inspired this piece.”
The result is a breathtaking packaging design that features ornately layered gold foils, intricate printing, and embossing, all crafted to embody the spirit of generosity this holiday season. Sustainability is at the forefront of this collection, with Oribe partnering with a green packaging provider to ensure that the exterior packaging is made from 100% post-consumer recycled paper and printed with soy ink, produced in a zero-waste, zero-emission facility.
Additionally, some gift sets include an internal tray made from biodegradable bamboo and bagasse, an agricultural waste derived from sugarcane, further emphasizing Oribe’s commitment to eco-friendly practices.
Launched in September, the collection is available on Oribe.com and at select salons and retailers in Singapore, including Shunji Matsuo.
A Common Thread: Tapestry of Tradition
Beyond the holiday packaging, Oribe commissioned Saksi to create a one-of-a-kind tapestry, bringing his woven design to life. Using a traditional Jacquard weaving technique, Saksi combined natural fibers such as mohair, alpaca, cotton, and wool with rubber, metal, acrylic, and phosphorescent yarns to create a complex texture that bridges digital and analogue artistry.
Measuring over 10 feet long, the tapestry took six months to complete and utilized more than 180 pounds of material. Saksi emphasized the importance of detail in his work, stating, “Attention to detail has always been so important to me, and that is something the Oribe team and I share: a love of craftsmanship.”
As the holiday season approaches, Saksi reflects on the essence of this time of year: “For me, the holidays have always been about slowing down, spending time with loved ones, and appreciating traditions. I think of it a little bit like weaving, where every thread connects to something bigger.”
With the 2025 Holiday Collection, Oribe not only elevates the art of gifting but also weaves together a narrative of beauty, sustainability, and shared connections, making this season truly special.
