Port Denarau Marina Unveils $6 Million Mega Yacht Berth Expansion, Elevating Fiji’s Yachting Status
Port Denarau, Fiji – In a significant boost for Fiji’s marine tourism sector, Port Denarau Marina has officially completed its landmark $6 million Mega Yacht Berth Expansion. This transformative development positions Fiji as a premier destination for global yachting enthusiasts, featuring seven new state-of-the-art berths, including the South Pacific’s first mega yacht berth capable of accommodating vessels up to 115 meters.
The ambitious project, which took just four months to complete, not only enhances berthing capacity but also strengthens Fiji’s competitive edge in attracting high-value superyacht tourism. The expansion includes a 203-meter jetty extension, supported by advanced dredging works that deepen approach channels and turning basins, ensuring safe navigation for the world’s largest vessels.
“This is more than infrastructure – it is a forward-looking investment in Fiji’s future as the leading superyacht destination in the South Pacific,” said Malakai Naiyaga, Chair of the Port Denarau Marina Board. “It enables us to welcome the world’s most prestigious vessels while generating local jobs, supporting marine tourism, and strengthening our position on the global stage.”
The new berths are equipped with the Super Elite® Marina System from Marine Structures (Australia), featuring innovative elastomeric hinge technology that ensures flexibility and durability with minimal maintenance. Enhanced utility pedestals from Patron Power and upgraded fuel lines from Pacific Energy further improve service reliability, offering superyachts efficient connections for power and refueling directly at the berth.
The project was expertly managed by Design Marine Fiji, with complex piling works and precision dredging seamlessly integrated by Port Denarau Marina’s in-house maintenance team. This collaboration of local expertise and international technology underscores Fiji’s growing capability in delivering world-class marine projects.
With the expansion, Port Denarau Marina now boasts 62 private berths, including 27 dedicated to superyachts over 24 meters. This increase not only supports visiting superyachts but also stimulates economic opportunities across Fiji’s marine services, tourism operators, and local communities.
The expansion is already proving to be a catalyst for Fiji’s marine economy, benefiting local suppliers and contractors engaged during construction and paving the way for long-term opportunities in tourism, charter operations, and marine services.
As Port Denarau Marina ushers in this new era of yachting, it remains committed to providing unmatched service, safety, and hospitality, showcasing Fiji as a world-class superyacht hub and the gateway to the South Pacific.
