Franciscan Health’s Prenatal Program Receives Nearly 250K Diapers to Combat Diaper Need

Crown Point, IN – In a significant boost to local families in need, Franciscan Health’s Prenatal Assistance Program has received a staggering donation of 247,968 Huggies diapers from the National Diaper Bank Network. This generous contribution aims to alleviate diaper need and period poverty, issues affecting nearly half of all families in the United States.

The National Diaper Bank Network collaborates with various diaper banks, including those at Franciscan Health, to ensure that families can access essential resources. According to their findings, the average cost of diapers can reach nearly $1,000 a year, a burden that many families struggle to bear.

Franciscan Health’s Diaper Pantry program is designed to help eligible families obtain free diapers, wipes, and other necessities. Families interested in the program can call 877-773-6285 to check eligibility, register, and schedule an appointment.

“This donation is a game-changer for many families in our community,” said Jodi Perrine, Franciscan Community Health Prenatal Coordinator. “Access to diapers is a basic need that many overlook, but it plays a crucial role in the health and well-being of infants and toddlers.”

The diaper donation was celebrated by staff members, including Perrine, Community Health Prenatal Care Coordinator A’onesty Cross, and Diaper Pantry Community Health Specialist Becky Barker, who gathered to highlight the impact of this generous gift.

As the demand for such resources continues to grow, initiatives like the Diaper Pantry program are vital in ensuring that no child goes without the essentials they need for a healthy start in life.
